Cardiac tamponade

Description
Compression of the heart caused by fluid collecting in the sac surrounding the heart.
Overview
Cardiac tamponade puts pressure on the heart and keeps it from filling properly. It causes a life-threatening drop in blood pressure.
Symptoms
Symptoms include anxiety, restlessness, and a sharp chest pain that worsens with deep breathing or coughing.
Treatments
Emergency treatment is required. Usually, a needle or small tube is used to drain extra fluid.
