Altru Physician Stephanie Foughty, Named Physician of the Quarter

Altru is pleased to announce Stephanie Foughty, M.D., a family medicine doctor at the Altru clinic in Devils Lake since 2016, has been awarded Physician of the Quarter for Quarter 1 of 2023.

“Dr. Foughty exemplifies a family physician with unwavering dedication to delivering excellent care to her community. The Devils Lakes Region and Altru are lucky to have her on our team!” shared Dr. Josh Deere, president of Altru.

The patients in the Devils Lake area who see Dr. Foughty trust her medical guidance.

“Dr. Foughty is the best doctor I have ever had. She listens to me and has helped me through a very difficult time filled with health concerns and life challenges,” shared a patient.

One patient noted, “Dr. Foughty has been my provider almost since she started here in Devils Lake. I really trust her to help me make good decisions about my medical care.”

Another patient noted the varying experiences between North Dakota and Arizona in medical care.

“I live part time in North Dakota and part time in Arizona. When I’m in North Dakota, I see Dr. Foughty. The care I get in North Dakota is so personal and caring. Dr. Foughty is great,” asserted another patient.

Dr. Foughty shares her philosophy of medicine, “I believe that it is vital to view each patient as a whole, not just focus on their medical problems. Many aspects of a patient's life such as family, living situation, financial situation and support system can have a huge impact on their health and overall quality of life. All these aspects must be taken into consideration when putting together a patient's treatment plan.”

Dr. Foughty attended medical school at the University of North Dakota and then completed her residency at Altru Family Medicine Residency. She completed an obstetrics fellowship, also at Altru Family Medicine Residency. Her clinical interests include women’s health, acne management, joint injections, mental health care, and the care of patients with both acute and chronic medical conditions.

The Physician of the Quarter recipients are selected after reviewing survey results submitted by patients. Altru started this award in 2021 as a way to recognize outstanding care given by Altru physicians.
