As Altru continues to work building a better tomorrow for our community and region, a lot of moving parts need to happen before our first patient occupies our new hospital in early 2025. These moving parts include remodeling of existing buildings and relocations of departments from the current hospital to clinic space. We appreciate your patience as we work to create a 5-star patient experience for each person.
Below is a list of some of the moves that may impact patients. Departments will call patients will appointments and let them know ahead of time if they are to check in someplace different.

Employer Health Solutions
- Former location: Altru 860 Columbia
- Temporary location: Temporary trailer located next to Altru 860 Columbia
- Final location: Altru Family Medicine Center, Lower Level in late 2024
Pulmonology Clinic
- Former location: Main floor of Altru 1300 Columbia on the west end of the building
- Temporary location: In January 2024, the Pulmonology Clinic moved to their temporary location in Altru 1300 Columbia on 3rd floor next to the elevators.
- Final Location: Pulmonology will move back into their original space in Altru 1300 Columbia Q3 2024.
Nephrology Clinic
- Former location: Altru 1300 Columbia - 3rd floor next to elevators
- Temporary location: Nephrology Clinic moved January 2024 to the former Urgent Care space across the hallway from the Emergency Department in the current hospital.
- Final Location: Nephrology’s final location will be on the main level of Altru 1300 Columbia on the west end late 2024.
Outpatient Behavioral Health
- Former location: Altru 860 Columbia
- Temporary location: December 2023, Outpatient Behavioral Health moved to the Admin space next to the Retail Pharmacy in the current hospital while remodeling is going on in Altru 860 Columbia
- Final location: Altru Columbia 860 in Q4 2024/Q1 2025.
HERO Program
- Former location: Altru Columbia 1300 - lower level
- Temporary location: HERO moved into the former Credit Union space in the Altru Columbia 1300 concourse leading to the current hospital in December 2023
- Final Location: New hospital in early 2025
Quality & Safety
- Former location: Altru Columbia 1300 - lower level & next to the admin suites on the main floor of the hospital.
- Temporary location: November 2023, Security & Emergency Preparedness moved to the basement of current hospital. At the same time, Quality team members moved to the Altru Health Foundation building (2501 DeMers Ave) or started working remotely.
- Final location: Security & Emergency Management will be in the new hospital. Quality team members TBD.
Ultrasound & Echo
- Former location: Altru Columbia 1300 - main floor
- Temporary location: Moved September 2023 to main floor hospital, former SCCU space
- Final Location: Altru Columbia 1300 - main floor (Ultrasound Q4 2024) and Altru Columbia 1300 - 3rd floor (Echo Q1 2025)
Device Clinic
- Former location: Altru Columbia 1300 - main floor
- Temporary location: Moved September 2023 and became embedded within 3rd floor cardiovascular (CV) clinical space in Altru Columbia 1300
- Final location: Altru Columbia 1300 - 3rd floor by Q1 2025
Research
- Former location: Office in lower-level hospital with a patient care/draw room in Altru Columbia 1300 - main floor
- Final location: Moved to their final location September 2023 in Altru Family Medicine Center - lower level
